The objective in Lappeenranta is the increased sharing of space between Lappeenranta University of Technology and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences. Under the Verso project, the university main building and two laboratories will be upgraded, more business premises are added and the building services are modernised.

The need to convert work and learning environment into adaptable multi-user spaces is also a factor in the facility design. The focus is shifting from teaching to learning, and the methods, theories and tools of teaching are changing.

Efficiency can be further improved by more streamlined operations and higher rates of occupation. The aim is to cause as little inconvenience to the users of the campus as possible during building work.
