The Kampusareena concept was developed by University Properties of Finland Ltd together with Tampere University of Technology to bring together universities and companies and has received EU-wide recognition.
Kampusareena was selected as one of the Good Practices finalists by the Interreg Europe InterBridge project. Interreg develops and gathers regional and local best practices within Europe to link research and development investments. This paves the way for more success.
Earlier in the autumn, Kampusareena was also introduced in a keynote at the Interreg Europe Urbact seminar. Urbact gathers best practices in sustainable urban development in Europe.
Creative collisions generate new business.
Kampusareena at the heart of Tampere University of Technology Hervanta Campus is a place where businesses, researchers, students and the alumni meet.
“Continuous dialogue with companies and other societal stakeholders is central to the University of Tampere. Kampusareena is a physical outcome of this exchange: it brings together students, university staff and our partners. These are the encounters that generate new ideas that could evolve into major research projects, innovations and ultimately business,” says former Rector Mika Hannula.
“The Interreg recognition awarded to Kampusareena shows that our concept has been noticed outside our borders. This is an amazing opportunity for Kampusareena as well as the entire academic community of Tampere.”
“Kampusareena hosts events that are of great relevance to the participants. The events are platforms exchanging knowledge and meeting truly remarkable talent. Take, for example, the events on virtual reality and artificial intelligence. This is a great place to meet university people, so this is where we host all our project meetings these days. Kampusareena also serves as a remote work desk, where you can accidentally meet interesting people,” says Jukka P. Saarinen from Nokia Technologies, who actively participated in the development of the Kampusareena concept.
The recognitions awarded by InnoBridge and Urbact are major milestones for SYK as it moves towards its vision of becoming Europe’s most valued campus developer.
